Rankine Cycle Analysis & Turbine Design

Designed an organic Rankine cycle turbine for electric power generation. Turbo Solutions built up a model of the entire Rankine cycle system using an in-house developed Matlab/Simulink cycle analysis program, determined the optimum turbine flowrate and pressure ratio for the available waste heat conditions, and designed the radial inflow turbine and waste heat power recovery system. The scope of work included detailed cycle optimization, aerodynamic design of the turbine inlet casing, nozzles, rotor, and exhaust diffuser, solid modeling and structural analysis of entire turbine assembly, and the manufacture of drawings of the turbine components. The customer manufactured and tested a prototype model and is now in low-volume production of the final design.
